Doris Karloff

In a review of Ann Widdecombe's 2013 memoir Strictly Ann, for The Spectator, Lloyd Evans wrote: "Her 'Doris Karloff' tag was originated by the Labour MP Paul Flynn and she instantly adopted it as a personal signature. Having briefed a lobby correspondent over the telephone she would finish with, 'That's it. Karloff has spoken.'"

Paul Flynn was MP for Newport West, from 1987 to 2019. Under Jeremy Corbyn he was briefly Shadow Secretary of State for Wales and Shadow Leader of the House of Commons (July to October, 2016).
